A fire is raging just north of the Monagrouli area in Limassol with firefighters at the scene trying to battling the flames under difficult circumstances.
The situation is becoming exceedingly difficult due to strong winds fanning the flames. Efforts are made to prevent the fire, which broke out at around 2pm, from reaching farms in the area.
At least nine firefighting trucks and five water-dropping aircraft — three helicopters and two small aeroplanes — were battling the fire, according to fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis.
Earlier in the day, firefighters finished putting out a huge fire in a forest near Ayia Paraskevi and Pano Pyrgos in the Tyllyria area after battling it since around 6:30pm on Thursday.
